Top Fall Fashion Trends October 9, 2008

Hello everyone!

October is here so I figured it was time to talk about the top fall fashion trends for the season.  The leaves are changing colors, there is a nice chill in the air at night…it will soon be time for fire places and hot chocolate, Thanksgiving parties, Christmas parties and tons of other social events are coming up…so we need to look our best!  :)

Here are some of the top fall fashion trends:

1. Bows:  Bows are such and easy thing to incorporate into your wardrobe.  There are tons of great shoes out there right now with bows.  They create a very feminine look and are also sophisticated.  Some good sites to find reasonable shoes are

www.wantedshoes.com and www.payless.com

Payless is actually becoming a lot more trendy and high end designers are creating lines for them.  Lela Rose  has some great shoes and clutches there right now with bows!  So Payless is a great way to not spend a lot, but still be on top of the top fall fashion trends!  Some other ways to incorporate bows into your wardrobe are on a headband, a piece of jewelery or even a cute top.

2.  Blazers: Blazers are a great fahions staple.  They are great for the office and can also be dressed down with dark jeans and a cool rocker tee for a night on the top with your girls.  Other ways you can change up a plain blazer is with a pin (which are also very chique).  Blzers come in all sorts of great colors right now so if you are feeling risky you can wear a yellow, pink, turquoise…but if you are a little more conservative black is always a great staple and will never go out of style!

3.  Glammed-up Head Bands:  Head bands are a huge top fall fashion trend!  They are in almost every magazine and can be see on all of the hottest stars!  They come in all shapes and colors.  They are adorned with feather, gems, beads.  A great place to find a huge array of headbands is www.urbanoutfitters.com.

4.  Menswear:  Blazers, slacks, vests, suspenders all of these things are very popular right now for women.   This top fall fashion trend is fabulous because, not only can you mix these great pieces into your work wardrobe, but they are also great for the weekend.  Other ways to do the menswear thing are by adding a to die for bag!  I know….I know…most men would not carry a hand bag…But the look of a bag with distinctive hardware or distressed leather evoke a sense of masculinity and power.  Here is an example of a bag:

This is a great way to glam up a neutral work outfit and show your personal style.

5. Bright Colors:  Usually in fall the colors are drab and boring!  But this year color is everywhere!  And the brighter the better!  Bright colored shoes are such an easy way to glam up a boring outfit.  If you wear a bright shoe, make sure the rest of the outfit is a neutral color like black so that most of the focus is on the shoe.  This way your bright colored, fabulous shoe will be the focus of the outfit.  Other way to incorporate color into your clothing is a simple bright colored shirt with jeans.  Or wearing bright eye make up is very trendy now!  One of the most popular top fall fashions trends are color tights!  They are so fun and make a great statement!  Here is a great example of how to use bold colors:

6.  Plaid:  Who would have thought?  But it is definately a top fall fashion trend and can be found on shirts, skirts, pants, skirts,  headbands and even shoes!  Here are some examples:

The skirt is subtle, but she looks very put together and oh so chique!

Well I hope this helps you with some of the top fall fashion trends.  You don’t have to get ever piece just a couple and if something does not work for you that is totally fine!  Remember the most important thing is for you to feel comfortable and confident in what you are wearing!  If you are confident in what you have on it will shine through and you will look great!  :)   That is it for now.  Thanks for reading….hope you enjoyed it and if you have any questions or comments I would be glad to help or hear from any of you!  Thanks! ;)

In and out for 2008 February 2, 2008

Bonjour Fashionistas!

Here are some of the in’s and out’s of 2008:

In:

1. Feminine dressing…I’m so excited about this!!!!!  Dressing girlie is so fun!!!

2. Thin belts

3.  Head scarves

4. Pencil skirts that are knee length or longer…this is awesome!  Very flattering on all body types.  A classic item…in my opinion a must have in all closets!  You can dress a pencil skirt up with a button up shirt tucked in, for a super classy/sophisticated look…..or even pair it with a rocker tee and some bright shoes for a night on the town!

 5. Sequins

6.  Metallics

7.  Silk jersey and chiffon

8.Hats

9. Clutches

10.  Dressing up

11. Scarves

Some of the hot colors- orange, rose, lavender, green and silver.  Bright colors are very in right now!  So have some fun this season and don’t be afraid of color…the more the better!

Another tip is to focus more on fit and not on brand.  If something fits your body well and looks good on you and makes you feel good that is what is the most important!  So if a trend doesn’t work for your body type…it is okay to not do it.  Stick to what works for you.  Personal style is always “in” so be yourself and have fun with what you wear!!!  :)

Out: wicker and raffia shoes, ultra short skirts and shorts, peasant skirts, jersey knits, baby doll dresses, lots of black and/or other dark colors, loud geometric prints.

My best advice is focus on fit and your personal style.  You know what works best for you.  Buy classic pieces for the majority of your wardrobe and a couple trendy things to add some spice and pizazz!  Accessories are always a good way to add a trendy piece to your ensemble.  Forever 21 and H&M are good stores to look for bargains.  Target can also have hidden gems….you just have to look!

Thanks for reading.  I hope you guys are enjoying my blog.  If you have any comments or suggestions please feel free to let me know.  I would love some feed back!  Thanks everyone!  Have a marvelous week!!!!

Au Revoir

So Right Now!!! January 24, 2008

Hello all!  :)

So I know it is still January and in most places it is REALLY cold!  Right now it is in the 30’s here and it is supposed to sleet tonight….not fun!  When the weather is cold and dreary people tend to dress blah and boring too…But listen up all…you DO NOT have to do that!  I am all for being cozy and warm, but there are tons of ways to do that and still look amazing!

One of my favorite ways to spice up a boring outfit for ladies is painting your nails…I know that recently dark colors have been the major trend and I absolutely love this look!  But the new biggest thing this season is bright colors for everything!  Neon brights…think 80’s…it is so fun to add a bright color to a blah outfit….it can completely change the feel of the outfit.  Painting your nails fuchsia pink, neon green, bright blue…it just adds that pizazz and little fun hint to any outfit….for example…right now I am just hanging out in my PJ’s, but my toe nails are bright blue and just looking at them makes me feel more fun.  Wearing bright colors in make up is very in right now.  Colorful eye liner paired with simple nude lips and other make-up can look fabulous.  Wearing bright colors on your lips makes them look so much more kissable…and if you are planning on kissing…color stay lip colors are awesome for that!  They do not come off!  Even colorful mascara is everywhere right now…It has even been said that wearing colorful make up can enhance your mood!  Why not try it?!

I love to spice up boring winter outfits with scarves!  Add a colorful scarf to any outfit and it automatically makes it look more glam!  Animal print scarves are very right now too!  Grrrrr!  hehe….Add an animal print scarf to a plain black outfit and you will look more daring and fun!  A total diva look.  Watch out guys…and it will also make you ladies feel super sassy…..try it….it totally works!!!!

Bright and colorful pumps or shoes of any kind are also a fun way to step out in style.  I love the classic look of pumps, but the look right now is gladiator heels…last summer it was gladiator sandal, flats, but now they are making the look even more sassy by adding a heel and in tons of amazing colors!  The heels make your legs look great!

Dresses are still very in.  Puffy sleeves are no longer the in thing.  Stick to more tailored pieces.  Trapeze dresses are very in now…flowy and free in bright colors!  You can even wear a simple black or plain more muted dress with colorful shoes.

Jeans are always in….but the look right now is the lighter washes.  Just be sure to look for all over color and not buy jeans the are washed out in problem areas like around the thighs or butt…not a good buy!  Also higher rises are sill in and can also be very flattering for almost all figures and help with hiding problem areas with the tummy and butt and keep everything pulled in and up.  The lower rise tends to accentuate these areas and make them look worse, plus sitting down and having your panties showing is never fun….so lets all cheer for the high rise!  :)

Adding fun jewelry also makes anything you are wearing look more put together and sassy.  Just adding a simple hoop or some fun dangly earrings with some color to them can change your whole look.  A big colorful bracelet is always cool too.  Just whatever makes you feel confident and ready to face the world….that is the most important.  And if you try a trend and it is not YOU…don’t worry…try it in another way.  You do not have to follow every trend!  Being yourself and knowing what works for you is key and then you can add the trends that work with your body and all over look.

So to summarize everything!  Color is your friend this season!  Do not be afraid to try new things.  Add a scarf or a colorful shoe.  Throw on some fun accessories and go out for a night on the town!

Have a great day and I will be back soon with some in’s and out’s for the season.

Au revoir Fashionistas!  xoxo
